August 8, Yangon

Military forces are watching and hunting down the people with red umbrellas at the crowded places in Yangon after the photos of 'Red Umbrella Movement' in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of '8888 uprising' were spreading online on August 8, locals said.

Kamayut Information group said junta security forces have been inspecting the pedestrians' bags at the crowded places in Kamayut township such as in Hledan road, in front of Hledan Sein Gy Har and Sin Ma Laik junction and near flyovers and were checking for red umbrellas, starting in the morning of August 8.

The Yangon People's Strike group staged an anti-dictatorship campaign called Red Umbrella Movement in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of '8888 uprising' by holding red umbrella that read 'the flames of revolution are still burning' with the letter of 8 in Burmese in downtown areas in Yangon where the security are tight.
