Junta forces staged bombarded the vicinity of Kyayningyi village in Pale township in Sagaing region at about 11 a.m. on August 7, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.
The Pale Township People's Administration told the Burma Associated Press (BAP) that the air strikes occurred after a fighting broke out between local people defence forces (PDFs) and the junta forces.
"The air strike lasted for 15 minutes, they used machine guns as well. They wanted to clear the way for their injured as PDFs might blocked the roads," said a spokesperson of Pale Township People's Administration.
None of the civilians as well as the PDFs was injured in the air strikes.
However, more than 3000 residents were forced to flee their homes to avoid being caught in the fighting.
"More than 3000 residents from the eight villages have been displaced due to the offensives," the spokesperson added.
The displaced people have been receiving temporary shelters and food from PDFs and People's Administration groups under the National Unity Government (NUG) at the villages where there is no fighting at the moment.
Elders and disable people are among the displaced people who are facing humanitarian difficulties.
