Within 24 hours of imposing martial law in Ayadaw town, Sagaing region, the junta carried out airstrikes and increased the number of its infantry troops, according to local resistance groups and locals.
On February 22, the Burmese regime enforced its rule and expanded it to include Ayadaw, Shwebo, and Watlet.
According to the Ayadaw People's Defense Force, offensives against the villages of Kan Yin and Malal Tha, Nyaung Pin, which are situated south of Ayadaw town, began on February 23 at 2 p.m. with the reinforcement of its forces by the air force.
Due to concerns over public safety and security, the resistance forces advised residents to avoid using the township's roadways and streets for a while.
Locals claim that the military turned off Internet services while preparing to launch offensives against the villages.
